Between Myth and Trees

myths and trees: Between myth and trees in our culture as the people of Indonesia are very closely related. Virtually every culture has a myth about a tree that does not directly affect the existence of the tree itself. A myth can cause the opposite effect.

For example, the belief that there is in Java and Bali, several generations of people or believe that a large tree has a "guardian". You are outside Java and Bali are also of course have heard about this instead? Well, what effects that arise in the community response to this myth? There's good and bad of course.

Two opposite effects arising from the myth of "gatekeepers" are:

The first is a positive effect. Regardless of any beliefs, consider a tree has a guardian can encourage people to not do the destruction of the tree itself. People thought would get disastrous if done something bad to the tree. The result, people become afraid of the tree so the tree + residents will never be cut down.

The second is the opposite of the first effect. Still with the background of people who believe a certain tree "uninhabited", but the effect of different thinking, that the community is frightened by the myth that they jointly made the decision to do the cutting of a tree, the irony.

Or, people think that if a tree one day become too large, then the tree will be populated, so they have to cut them down as soon as possible before the arrival of the tree dwellers. This kind of thinking that should not happen.

These are two thoughts that occur in society, especially in Java and Bali. However, new thinking began to evolve mainly by new generations. They began to think to let go of the relationship between myth and the tree itself. They prefer to see the tree as a tree, the living, who either directly or indirectly, is necessary for human life.

The new generation does not do the destruction was not as myth but because they knew the tree as part of life on Earth. But not as nice as it is, just a new generation of destruction made even more severe. Class destroyer damaging for commodities, the economy, money etc. to the scope of the destruction of a wider and faster. May we not become the next generation destroyer, be a hero to save the Earth with trees and other living things.
